idea on java card

idea on java card

I've been trying to port the IDEAEngine to a java card. More specificly to a Axalto Cyberflex e-gate card which supports Java Card 2.1.1 and Opencard. The card only support boolean, byte and short data types.
After trying for 2 days it looks like I won't be able to change it to use shorts in place of int's. The algorithm is dependent on working with 32 bits it seems. Does anyone know if it's possible to implement IDEA just using shorts? I have thought of in place of using int's just using an 2 element array of shorts but looking at the code it looks like quite a big change to make it work with that.
Any help greatly appreciated!!
